Hidden in plain sight, Escape to Freight Island is a vision of our collective future. A place where we can go and be together again.
An inspiring urban landscape where an outdoor food market, art space and terrace-style seating collide on one sprawling tract, a long-forgotten freight depot carved from the city’s industrial past.
An international destination akin to the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Coney Island in New York and Grand Central Market in Los Angeles, it will combine restaurant quality food vendors, inventive bars, secret dens, music, immersive art, festival takeovers and family focused happenings.
Aiming to become one of the most forward-thinking and disruptive markets in the world, Escape to Freight Island opens in Manchester this July.
Launching with its pivotal ‘Safe + Social Manifesto’, and a limited 600-capacity first phase, Escape to Freight Island will expand to welcome 2,500 people when fully open later this year.
A host of musical talent will join including Giles Peterson, Erol Alkan, Mr. Scruff, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy and more as well as some of the nations top food and drink vendors like Camden Town Brewery Beer, Kopparberg, Seltzer, Voodoo Rays Pizza, Baratxuri and more.
