About the event
We welcome House music leviathan, Larry Heard for what will be his only London show of 2019. A man responsible for much of what we do, in so many ways. Accompanying Mr Fingers on our Sunday session are a triumvirate of second generation superstars straight outta the D: Carl Craig, Moodymann and Theo Parrish. If you ever wanted an insight in to what has inspired us on this journey, the craft and artistry of these three titans will give you an idea. And from East coast to West, this party also features a Live excursion from Stones Throw’s low-slung songsmith Dām Funk.
Carl Craig has been considered to be an important figure in the second wave of Detroit techno during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He has approached techno using inspiration from a wide range of musical genres, including soul, jazz, new wave, and Krautrock, while his works have spanned ambient techno, breakbeat, house, and modular synthesizer-based stylings.
In a 2015 interview, he cited The Electrifying Mojo, Prince, Kraftwerk, Juan Atkins, and Jeff Mills as the major influences on his music.
Damon Garrett Riddick (born June 15, 1971), better known by his stage name Dâm-Funk (stylized as DāM-FunK; pronounced “Dame-Funk”), is an American funk musician, vocalist and producer from Pasadena, California. In 2007, Riddick signed with the L.A.-based record label Stones Throw Records.
Larry Heard (born May 31, 1960, Chicago, Illinois) is a Memphis, Tennessee-based DJ, record producer and musician, widely known as an important figure in 1980s Chicago house music.
He has recorded solo under various names, most notably Mr. Fingers, and was leader of the influential group Fingers Inc., whose 1988 album Another Side was the first long-form house LP. He is regarded as a pioneer of deep house music, bridging the gap between the futurism and “posthuman tendencies” of house and the lush, soulful sound of disco.
