It’s no secret the US has fallen back in love with electronic music over the last decade. A new generation of dance heads have germinated Stateside and they want uncompromising originality made for massive rooms. Two of the biggest names riding that wave are under one roof tonight, and both are bonafide veterans.
MK was topping Billboard charts during the mid-90s thanks to work alongside vocalist Alana. Ten years on that remix of Storm Queen’s ‘Look Right Through’ took No.1 this side of the pond. Since there have been remixes for Lana Del Rey, Dev, Ellie Goulding and Hot Creations house head Lee Foss, who joins for this one. Diplo helped break M.I.A. before creating tropical bass via Major Lazer and LSD. Riva Starr has been rocking the house circuit for just as long, his famed Rechunk edits testament to how much personality he packs into all he touches. Black Butter’s Gorgon City twist garage into unique electronics, while Leftwing:Kody veer close to techno. Then there’s Weiss, responsible for retro-inspired piano bombs that soundtracked this summer. Proof that even the smaller names will bring the main stage stuff tonight.
